Book a mow

Privacy policy

How we handle your information, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Template, not legal advice. This page is a starting point written to cover the way the WeMow platform actually works. Have a New Zealand lawyer review it against the Fair Trading Act, the Consumer Guarantees Act, the Privacy Act 2020 and your final franchise structure before you publish it.

WeMow Limited (“WeMow”, “we”) operates this website and the WeMow booking platform. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and what rights you have under the Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect

  • Contact details — your name, email address and phone number.
  • Property information — the address you want serviced, and details about the lawn such as approximate size, condition, access notes, gate codes and pet warnings.
  • Photographs — photos you upload of your property, and before and after photos taken by crew during a job.
  • Booking and payment records — what you booked, when, what it cost, and the outcome. Card details are handled by our payment provider; we never store full card numbers.
  • Location data — approximate crew location at the time of arrival and completion, recorded against the job.
  • Technical data — standard web and app logs, used to keep the service running and secure.

Why we collect it

  • To determine which franchise covers your address and to price your job
  • To schedule work and give crew what they need to do it
  • To take payment for a service you have agreed to
  • To keep you informed about your booking
  • To handle complaints, incidents and quality reviews
  • To meet our legal and tax obligations

Who we share it with

Your information is shared with the WeMow franchise that services your address, and with the crew assigned to your job — who see only what they need in order to do it. We also use service providers for payment processing, messaging and hosting. We do not sell your personal information.

Marketing

Messages about your bookings are part of the service and are not marketing. Promotional messages are separate, off by default, and switched on only if you choose to. You can turn them off at any time in the app under Account, or by using the unsubscribe link in any promotional message.

How long we keep it

We keep booking, payment and job records for as long as we are legally required to, which for tax records in New Zealand is at least seven years. Photographs attached to a property are kept while your account is active so crew have context for future visits, and you can delete them yourself in the app.

Your rights

You may ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, and ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Email hello@wemow.co.nz and we will respond within 20 working days.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a privacy matter, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored on access-controlled infrastructure. Photographs are never publicly accessible — every request is checked against whether the person asking is entitled to see that job or property.

Changes

We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date below. Material changes will be notified to account holders directly.
